Conscientious Objection and We’ll be home by Christmas suites

National Army Museum Waiouru

From August 1 2017 -

This exhibition – through my embroidery photorealist styled painted silk cards, based on those crafted by women in France and Belgium during WW1 – speaks of two facets of WW1 firstly through the imagery of real silk cards aligned with Christmastime greetings across continents, between loved ones, [there are 12 works in this suite], and secondly the suite of imagined subversive themed narrative cards dealing with the language tracing those who chose, for a variety of reasons, to make themselves unavailable to take up arms in the conflicts of the First World War, [there are 12 works in this suite].

gallery@109 is my studio and gallery space.
